Interesting Article
On exactly how those IED cells are set up.

The groups in Iraq have no hierarchical structure, the officers said. Vast numbers of small, adaptive insurgent cells operate independently without central guidance. There may be some loose coordination of attacks, but then the cells go their separate ways.

As they say, read the whole thing.

It's been a bit.

Khalid was arressted in Iraq for following links from a web page hosted by his brother.

Raed here

He blogs about his experience Here needless to say it isn't pretty.

I think that continuing to say that things were worse under Saddam is becoming a much more teneous claim.

US plans massive withdraw in Iraq.

Down to 66,000 troops in Early 2006.

Now on the left side of the blogosphere there seems to be some dismay at this, lets take it by the numbers.

1. Yes no one actually believes that the security situation is going to be any better in Iraq in early 2006.
2. Yes this continues Bush's long-term use of the American Military as political props, and not actually as a mode to advance the nation's security. (look just in time for elections)
3. Yes Bush absoutely could care less if this is a good or bad thing for us, and for the Iraqi people.

However, I think this is a good policy as so far as I think leaving Iraq under any circumstances is good policy. So I'll take this, because a ill-planned politically motivated withdraw is the best that we can expect out of this crew, we should be happy if we actually get it.

More on Death Squads

This is a bit on an oldiee but These iraqi death squads work directly with US personel and are at some level supervised by us troops.

Also in another story I can't find right now it was also leaked that the US administration is purposefully keeping control of these units to the extent that they refuse to allow the elected Iraqi goverment to have access to the records or control their behavior.

So we can cut the bullshit about this not being US policy in country.

While I'm at it.

Someone probably should look into the fact that we've lost 25 men in uniform over in Afganistan last month. Comparitively to the size of the force there it would be like losing 250 personel in Iraq. Also check out this trend line. There have more fatalities every year over in that war (more so far this year already than in 2004) someone might want to figure out exactly what is going on over there.
